Letting Go
Restoring the Capacity for Intimacy through Relationship with God and One Another
During the month of June we’ll take a break from our trek through Revelation for a 4-week series called “Letting Go: Restoring the Capacity for Intimacy through Relationship with God and One Another.” This important series is a way for us, as the body of Christ, to foster an environment of restorative human relationships to provide health and safety through gospel-centered community. You see, often in Christian communities, we discourage the rebellious and ungodly qualities in one another (which we should obviously discourage!) but… at the same time, we fail to encourage the Christlike qualities in one another. We too easily become a works-based community where people end up feeling used and burdened by impossible weights. When we maintain vibrant connection with God, primarily, and one another, secondarily, the Holy Spirit brings restoration and healing to our lives. We want to become a loving and gracious community of faith where, instead of self-righteous weights that are burdensome and that burn us out, we are renewed and strengthened to whole and healthy living. Then we can learn to “let go” of the weights that hinder us. Here’s the plan (so far):
Sun, Jun 2 — “Restoring the Capacity for Intimacy”
Sun, Jun 9 — “Letting Go… of Pain & Hurt”
Sun, Jun 16 — “Letting Go… of Anger & Bitterness”
Sun, Jun 23 — “Letting Go… of False Guilt”
