Men Needed… to lead in living the missionary life!

Scott Wakefield   -

A couple things I came across today that are hitting home right where I’ve been thinking and praying a lot lately.
American churches have allowed people to stop short at contentment with a pathetic dream of self-actualization and security that has little to do with the gospel and that, in the end, doesn’t satisfy… creating churchgoers who are happy to let someone else live the gospel vicariously for them — a process that leaves people spiritually flat and, worse, lets them live under the delusion that they’re safe when they may not be. We CANNOT rest in the false comfort of thinking that we won’t fall prey to Churchianity… any congregation or family is a generation or two away from spiritual impotence and cultural insignificance, including ours. We MUST be led by men of Prayer and the Word who raise up and empower leaders. We MUST call people to a missionary life by showing them what that looks like!
First, Darrin Patrick on Men, church leadership, raising up the next generation of leaders… At about 2:06, when he uses the word “pastor(s)”, the same exact thing applies to all church leaders.

This one is also powerful, though not so much about the male leadership part. I’m reading the book “Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream” by pastor David Platt. Here he is describing the gist of the book, which is quite cheap on Amazon.com right now.

Anyone else ready to go save some souls and sacrifice for the sake of the gospel?!
